Book Synopsis:

Book Review:

This book from the author of P.S. I love you is a sweet read that clutches at your heart. Totally different from other styles of writing, this story is told in the forms of correspondences that take place between the main characters in the story. Rosie and Alex are childhood friends who grow up together till Alex has to move away due to his father getting a better job offer in US. However, Rosie's and Alex's friendship does not grow weaker, instead they seem to develop feelings for each other which does not reach a fruitful conclusion till the very end of the novel by which time Alex and Rosie are in their 50's and a whole lifetime has passed without them being together.

You hang upon every word and wait with impatience for the end. Until it is the end and you wish it'll continue because you don't want to let go of the characters you've come to know and understand, most of all to love. Rosie Dunne is a wonderful woman; she has dreams even though she keeps facing the treacherous twists and turns of life. And Alex Stewart who succeeds to follow his dreams but keeps making the stupidest mistakes when it comes to love. Two soul-mates who through their life never get a chance to meet the way they should. Best friends since childhood, we see them grow up and face life in their own way while preserving  their  friendship.

Cecelia Ahern keeps you hanging wondering and even cursing these two for making the wrong decisions time and time again. It is a must read! You get the whole idea of how life works, how for the youngster it doesn't stop at school but it continues way after, how you can survive any ups and downs, how if you finally speak up and say how you feel you'll get to be with the person you love and cherish!

“Love Rosie” is in its post-production state & this movie is going to be released  in October 2014. Sam Claflin ,who played Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,is going to star as Alex and Lily Collins ,who played Clary in The Mortal Instruments:City Of Bones, is playing the character of Rosie. I think this movie is going to be worth watching, simply because Sam is in it. *swooning*

Book Review: Divergent By Veronica Roth

Plot/Summary:

Beatrice Prior resides in a dystopian Chicago where society is divided into five different factions. These factions were created to grow specific virtues and to bring harmony to the world— Candor, Dauntless, Amity, Erudite, and Abnegation. On a designated day once a year each and every sixteen year old among the factions must make a choice, a choice that transforms their future. On this day each one is to decide the faction they will be devoted to for the rest of their lives. The choice for Beatrice is to live her life with her family, or be who she really is— there is no way she can have both. The decision she makes is one that surprises everyone— including herself.
After the decisions have been made the new initiates all go through their chosen factions’ initiation. Beatrice, now called Tris , struggles with the other initiates in order to live out the choice they have made. The initiates undergo tests that challenge them in every way—physically, mentally, and emotionally—some having dire consequences. Initiation is a transforming time and during it Tris has to determine who her true friends are and how a new relationship with a fascinating, sometimes overwhelming boy all fit into her new life. Through all of this Tris has been holding back information, about herself, that she has been warned not to share or it could lead to her death. She soon discovers conflict and unrest that threatens to destroy the seemingly perfect society she once knew, she even comes to discover that her secret may be the one thing that can save them all—or it could be the one thing that destroys her.

Book Review:

Divergent was a fun, addicting, action-packed read that hooked me from page one. Its unique and imaginative concept is thickly layered without ever becoming difficult to follow. It wasn't at all plausible, but it also never became over-the-top or silly. It was a perfectly formulated source of enjoyment and a captivating read!

I can't touch on plot details because there is too much mystery to potentially spoil, but I will say that the story revolves around an alternate world that has been divided into factions representing five honorable human traits. The people who inhabit these factions follow rules and stick to their "group". But even a carefully constructed society contains individuals hungry for more power; those who will go to any extent to obtain it. 

I loved the deeper meaning generated throughout this story: how these human virtues are singled out and thoroughly defined. We see the good and bad of each, as well as the consequential aftermath. We are shown the impact and power of these values combined. Although this book represents a dystopian world, there are universal truths to be found within its pages.

The characters were perfection. Our Heroine, Tris (Beatrice) is strong, independent, and quick to adapt. She endures an honest struggle to define herself and her worth. 

Four displays honorable traits and was incredibly easy to love. He's a gentle hero, with a fierce determination. I enjoyed the slow build-up to his relationship with Tris, and the fact the he wasn't quick to fawn all over her—yet the way he defended her honor was admirable. Their romance was youthful, and sweet—very realistic for their tender age.

The fans of “The Hunger Games” and other such dystopian novels are going to love this book. It has less violence as compared to THG but a strong and completely different storyline. Another thing! Thank God there isn’t any clichéd love triangle in this book. Our Four-Tris ship is gonna sail without any icebergs for quite a long time.

You can’t keep a good Muppet down. The 2011 reboot, despite earning just $88-million at the box office, garnered enough good will (plus an Oscar for the song Man or Muppet and, less importantly, a four-star review from yours truly) to make a sequel happen.

And while the first trailer for Muppets Most Wanted was a pretty standard affair – clips, quips, screen time for co-stars Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey, and some of the many cameos – it wasn’t quite up the Muppets’ usual standard of insouciance. (Recall that the trailers for the last Muppet movie included sendups of The Hangover Part II, The Hunger Games and Paranormal Activity.)

Now the felt gang has released a new trailer called Sequel Song, a toe-tapping number with solos from Animal, Gonzo, and Gonzo’s chickens.

“We’re doing a sequel!” Kermit and Fozzie sing, decked out in gold top hats. “That’s what we do in Hollywood! And everybody knows that the sequel’s never quite as good.”

They get a little more positive as they continue: “We’re doing a sequel! There’s no need to disguise; the studio considers us a viable franchise.” And: “We’re doing a sequel! The studio wants more, while they wait for Tom Hanks to make Toy Story 4.”

Exclusive Trailer: The Quiet Ones

While the legendary horror film studio Hammer Films rose to prominence in the 1970s thanks to established movie monsters and a keen eye for practical effects, the studio’s recent resurgence is much more focused on the ghostly side of the supernatural spectrum. Their upcoming release The Quiet Ones looks like it might inject a little bit of life into this staling sub-genre, as evidenced by the exciting trailer seen above. As they say, it’s always the quiet ones you have to watch…

This trailer is absolutely filled with the shadowy cinematography and jump scares that have permeated these horror films for ages, but I think the central hook is interesting, and I happen to enjoy this brand of faux-period aesthetic being utilized. Like Hammer’s The Woman in Black, the story will probably be par for the course, yet decorated in a pleasing package. We take what we can get sometimes.

The Quiet Ones also stars Jared Harris (Mad Men).Erin Richards (Breaking In), Rory Fleck-Byrne (Stealaway), Max Pirkis (Rome), Laurie Calvert (Episodes) and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire). I’m pretty sure Lionsgate is hoping even a small percentage of Claflin’s fanbase who watched him in Catching Fire will show up in droves whenever they release the film on April 25.

The Hunger Games ( Movie and Book)

  

Plot:

Winning will make you famous. 

Losing means certain death.

In a dystopian future, the  nation of Panem is divided between 12 districts and the Capitol. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal retribution for a past rebellion, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors while the citizens of Panem are required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss's young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, are to fight against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. This is a story of a society so oppressed by the government that they don’t ever say a word when their children are put in a death match and are treated like animals. But all of this is to stop. Katniss Everdeen is going to show them something they never considered and the rules are about to change.

Summary:

1. A sharp and intelligent heroine with just the right amount of emotion who gives in to absolutely nothing and no one? 

2. A sweet and sensitive hero who loves and supports the heroine unconditionally? 

3. An original setting with a unique and thrilling plot? 

4. A couple of earth-shattering shocks every now and then to keep the readers' mind reeling? 

5. Extraordinary side characters from interesting backgrounds who possess the much-needed Voice of Reason and/or Humor in every crisis? 

6. Desperate circumstances that force me to bite my nails in anxiety? 

7. An ending that provides the perfect premise for the sequel but also concludes the present book? 

Review

Everything is good with The Hunger Games (movie) ..it follows the book and gives a great background for the future films in the franchise. But still, some characters, some scenes are not there. Which is a little bit disappointing . Like if you haven’t read the book, you don’t know who Madge Undersee is. Other than that, I am greatly disappointed by the casting of Peeta Mellark. Josh Hutcherson, really? He looks younger than Jennifer Lawrence,his onscreen love interest  Katniss. Plus he’s short. Other than that the casting is perfect.  Ignoring the black and white Buttercup (Prim’s cat who surely gets replaced in the next movie to her book color) . Everything is fantastic. You start craving that mockingjay pin and want to braid your hair in a “Katniss Braid”..just like me! Hell, I want to learn archery because of this Hunger Games trilogy. If you are a young adult and a fan of sci-fiction or thriller genre, try this. Its mind boggling . Both the book and the movie has its perks. Its book has that perfect feel which will drive your imaginations in a different realm altogether and the movie has Jennifer Lawrence! Everyone loves her! She has proved her worth as one of the most famous and hardworking actresses in Hollywood in a very short span of time . Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne is another feast for your eyes. Woody Harrelson as Haymitch, the mentor who guides them through this hell hole of a show does a splendid job .

Catching Fire!! Well, what can I say? This book/movie is PERFECTION. Written by Suzanne Collins it’s the second book in the Hunger Games Trilogy. The story continues where it ended in the first book; the two celebrated star-crossed lovers of District 12, victors of the 74th Annual Hunger Games; Katniss Everdeen & Peeta Mellark are back home and not so lovey dovey anymore (It was all for the Games! *Poor Peeta*). Also the smoking hot childhood friend Gale Hawthorn has declared his undying love to Katniss. In the midst of this love triangle comes the cold as ice President Snow, threatening to blow up her town if Katniss doesn’t convince him and the districts of her love for Peeta, as there is a rebellion gradually taking momentum around the districts due to her defiance in the arena. People consider her as a symbol; “The Mockingjay”. Katniss and Peeta continue with the love charade on their Victory Tour but to no avail. The spark of revolution has been ignited and its not going to be extinguished. President Snow as a result announces the Third Quarter Quell where ‘tributes from each district are to be chosen from the existing pool of victors.’ a.k.a A live telecast of Katniss’s execution on national television. It leads to so many confusing, heart aching and shocking events which can only be found out if you read the book ( or see the new movie).

Summary: 

It is a true young-adult thriller with everything you can think of. Government oppression? Check. Dystopian Storyline? Check. Love triangle? Check. Awesome Outfits? Check. Blood-sucking Vampires? Um, no. But we have President Snow who figuratively speaking is a blood-sucker, so yeah. We have Finnick Odair for you, who’ll make you drool all over his sugar cubes. Also Johanna Mason, Mags and a list full of new characters who’ll win your heart in a jiffy. For those of you who have read the first book it is going to be a treat! For those who have not, well read the first one or see the movie otherwise you won’t understand anything. If a fictional world can be so not awful yet so good, how can one stay away?

Review:

My review is for the book as well as for the movie. Both are so amazing, that they’re officially my favorite book and movie ever! You’ll have lots to fangirl over in this one. The charming Finnick Odair tops the list. Great casting in the movie too. Finnick (Sam Claflin) will make you laugh and cry at the same time. Josh Hutcherson as Peeta never had my approval, and maybe never will. He’s short. Period. Academy Award winner, Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss is so full of strength and height that we simply can’t make Josh and Jen match. Anyway, other than that the movie is bang on! True to the book and well planned and executed. See it in the cinemas near you. Jennifer Lawrence shows the potential she has and gives a sparkling performance. This girl is on FIRE!

The compassion, threats, action, betrayal, gestures, words all of it. This has to be the reason why it is so addictive. As expected from this series we are in for a ride. Some things are hinted out, but the full affect of what is going on isn't totally revealed till the very end.

Read and Watch it! It’s worth your time and money.
