Movie Review: Chasing Liberty (2004)

Movie Review: Chasing Liberty (2004)

Story:

An American romantic comedy with a Presidential twist!
Chasing Liberty is the story of Anna Foster (Mandy Moore) daughter of President of the United States James Foster (Mark Harmon). After Secret Service agents ruin a first date, Anna demands less supervision. For his upcoming trip to Prague, the president agrees to assign only two agents to watch over Anna, whose Secret Service codename is Liberty. In Prague, Anna and her friend Gabrielle La Clare (Beatrice Rosen) attend a concert, where Anna discovers numerous agents in the crowd. Believing her father has broken his promise, Anna eludes her protectors with Gabrielle's help. Outside the theater, she asks Ben Calder (Matthew Goode) for a ride on his motorbike. Unknown to Anna, Ben is a Secret Service agent, and he informs agents Alan Weiss (Jeremy Piven) and Cynthia Morales (Annabella Sciorra) where she can be found. When the president learns of her behavior, he instructs Ben to guard Anna without revealing his true identity, to give her the illusion of freedom with a guarantee of safety.
Believing she is finally free, Anna jumps into the Vltava River naked, mistaking it for the Danube, and she and Ben climb a rooftop to watch an Offenbach opera being shown in a plaza. The next morning, Anna calls her parents. Initially relieved that his daughter is safe, the President's tone changes when he is shown photos of her undressing. Outraged at her father's tone, Anna decides she will go to the Love Parade in Berlin. She and Ben board a train, where they meet Scotty McGruff (Martin Hancock), a flighty romantic who gives them a stack of Six Million Dollar Man stickers, instructing them to post them in random places, and one day when they are unhappy, they may come across one and it will make them smile. Ben discovers that they have boarded a Venice-bound train going in the opposite direction from Berlin.

In Venice, after checking in with agents Weiss and Morales—who are now growing closer romantically—Ben joins Anna and McGruff and together they explore the city. After McGruff leaves, Anna realizes he has stolen her wallet. When Anna is recognized by tourists, she and Ben flee. With no money, they tell a kind-hearted gondolier, Eugenio (Joseph Long), that they recently married against her parents' wishes. During the free gondola ride, Ben kisses Anna to hide her from their pursuers. When he learns the "newlyweds" have no place to stay, Eugenio invites them to his house, where they are welcomed by his mother, Maria (Miriam Margolyes). That night, thinking their kiss was heartfelt, Anna offers herself to Ben, but he rejects her advances.
The next day, Eugenio drives them to the Austrian border, as Weiss and Morales show up at Maria's house and learn from Maria that Anna and Ben are married, which is then reported to Anna's parents. Upset at Ben's rejection, Anna hitchhikes a ride in a truck, leaving Ben to chase her through the Austrian countryside. Anna comes to a bridge, where she meets the Jumping Germans, a bungee jumping group. Ben arrives just as Anna is being strapped into the harness, and insists on jumping with her.
Later that evening at the Jumping Germans' camp, one of the Germans asks Anna to share his tent for the night. She refuses and flirts with Ben, who rejects her advances again. Upset, she declares that she will share the German's tent after all; Ben finally admits his feelings for Anna and they spend the night together. At the Love Parade, as Ben explains his actions on the phone to his fellow agents, Anna discovers his identity. Enraged at the apparent betrayal, Anna runs off, only to be harassed by a group of men who recognize her. Ben rescues her, and Anna and her family return to the United States.

While preparing for college, Anna reveals to her mother that her heart is "a little bit broken." At college, with Weiss and Morales (who plan to marry) still protecting her, Anna sees a Six Million Dollar Man sticker which reminds her of her European adventure. During Christmas break Anna's father tells her that Ben resigned from the Secret Service and is working as a photographer in London. During an exchange program to Oxford University Anna visits Ben at the opera, where they kiss, reconcile, and escape on his motorbike.

Review:

Kind of a refreshing flick to lighten up the mood & take full pleasure in watching romance with a twist  on the beautiful grounds of Europe.
Mandy Moore is as good as ever & makes great couple with Mathew Goode.
Story and the feel of movie is happy and light. Its not a flick that you will remember forever or would stick to but it surely is worth watch. As life is not only about heavy dose of everything and we are not here to play Critics!
The movie maintains its charm & vanilla flavor throughout with nice to ears music & great great scenery.
If you are up to pass time without getting thunderbolted with drama, try this one!
Actors do justice to their characters & movie did justice to my time.
So I will rate this cute one:

Official "New" Trailer : Godzilla (2014)

Official "New" Trailer : Godzilla (2014)

I'm typically not into big budget blockbusters, but holy shit am I excited about Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' Godzilla, which is fast approaching. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters), the film is primed and ready to wash the bad taste of 1998's lackluster effort out of all of our mouths, and at long last give us the Godzilla flick that we deserve, and that we've been patiently waiting for.

A few months after the excitement began with a teaser trailer, and a mere 24 hours after we heard his roar, the full official trailer for Godzilla 2014 has arrived, and it's home to a whole lot of brand new footage that wasn't previously seen in the teaser. Though it still doesn't provide a full look at the titular beast, I can nevertheless promise you it's the most awesome thing you'll see all week.

If you weren't yet head over heels excited about the movie, prepare for that to change.

Check out the epic trailer, and look for Godzilla in theaters on May 16th!

Movie Review: The Conjuring

Movie Review: The Conjuring (2013)

“There is something horrible happening in the house.”

Plot:

An American Supernatural horror set to blow minds! Conjuring is based on true events which have happened with paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Movie starts with horror of a possessed doll ‘Annabelle’ followed by a lecture of the Warrens discussing about paranormal entities.
The Perron family has just shifted to a farmhouse in Rhode Island with their five daughters and a dog. As they try to to settle in and get used to the big house, certain unusual and disturbing things tend to happen. Carolyn (the wife) wakes up with a mysterious bruise and finds Sadie lying dead outside the house. Various instances of paranormal disturbance also occur. The activity culminates one night while Roger is away in Florida. After hearing various clapping and giggling noises, and seeing the picture frames shattered on the stairs, Carolyn is locked up in the cellar. Later Cindy, one of the daughters, is awakened after sleepwalking into her sister Andrea's room—she sees a spirit on top of a wardrobe in the room that attacks Andrea.
While researching the history of the house, Ed and Lorraine discover that the house once belonged to an accused witch, Bathsheba, who tried to sacrifice her children to the devil and killed herself in 1863 after cursing all who would take her land. The property was once 200+ acres but has since been divided up into smaller parcels. They find reports of numerous murders and suicides in houses that have since been built upon parcels that were once part of the property.

Ed and Lorraine return to the house to gather evidence to receive authorization for the exorcism. Cindy again sleepwalks into Andrea's room and reveals a secret passage behind the wardrobe. Lorraine enters the passage and falls through the floorboards into the cellar, where she sees the spirit of a woman whom Bathsheba had long ago possessed and used to kill her child. Another of the Perron children, Nancy, is violently dragged by her hair along the floor by an unseen force.
Lorraine is threatened by the spirit to leave this investigation by an attack on her daughter in their house with a possessed doll Annabelle.
Perron family decides to take shelter in a hotel. At night Carolyn takes her two daughters back to the house. Meanwhile Lorraine discovers that Bathsheba’s strategy to attack was to possess the body of mother to kill the child hence every event that is hurting the Perrons is due to Carolyn who’s possessed. Right after it’s dawned on her they all rush to the house to save the girls.

After subduing Carolyn, Ed decides to perform the exorcism himself, though Carolyn escapes and attempts to kill April. Lorraine is able to temporarily distract the possessed Carolyn from killing her daughter by reminding her of a special memory she shared with her family, allowing Ed to complete the exorcism, saving Carolyn and her daughter.

Review:

Best Horror Movie Ever! Period.
The scares are scarier and the effect is unimaginable. From the very start you feel glued to the seat, even popcorns aren’t required unless you try to escape the horror!
The performances are flawless.

"all the scream-inducing shocks you could want, right on schedule"

The Conjuring is that horror flick we’ve been waiting for so long! So many scenes to skip heartbeat but the closet one wins over!
After watching the girls pay hide’n’clap every clap will haunt!
One of the best thing in this movie is Annabelle the doll. I bet she beats Chucky in the sequel of Conjuring.

“Extremely well-crafted and gleefully creepy”

Performance Ratings:

Lorraine Warren:
Vera Farmiga.

She has done extremely well. One of the very smart tv-life paranormal investigator!
****
Ed Warren:
Patrick Wilson.

Very Well Indeed. He was surely in his element in this one.
****
Lili Taylor:
Carolyn Perron.

A thumbs-up performance.
****
The Girls:
They have put in their best to make the movie one of the most refined horror ever!
*****
one for each ;)

My Rating For This Epic Horror Movie is :
****1/2

Official Youtube Trailer: Blended (2014)

Official Youtube Trailer: Blended (2014)

First was The Wedding Singer, then 50 First Dates, now Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore team up once again for another Hollywood romantic comedy. This one is called Blended and it’s scheduled for release May 23. Directed by frequent Sandler collaborator Frank Coraci, Blended tells the story of two people who go on a terrible blind date, then find themselves on vacation together on African safari.

Blended looks like a movie made as an excuse to go on vacation. The hyper-stretch plot of two people who randomly find out a vacation is up for grabs, then both go, is bad enough. From there, the jokes all look unimaginative, predictable and awkwardly slap-stick. Nothing about the movie feels imaginative or interesting, except the setting, and that’s probably the point. Unfortunately for Drew Barrymore, Blended feels much more like the new Adam Sandler (Grown Ups, Jack and Jill) than the one who made solid films with her in the past.

Let us know what you think about the trailer below. Here’s the official plot description:

“Blended” marks the third comedy collaboration between stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, following their successful onscreen pairings in the hit romantic comedies “50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer.”

After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Barrymore) and Jim (Sandler) agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week.

Slated for release on May 23, 2014, “Blended” is a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation of a Gulfstream Pictures/Happy Madison Production and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.

Movie Review: HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: Part II

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: Part II

"It all ends now. Neither can live while the other survives."

Based on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling

Rest Of Cast

Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort
Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange
Robbie Coltrane as Rubeus Hagrid
Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick

John Hurt as Ollivander
Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy
Gary Oldman as Sirius Black
Alan Rickman as Severus Snape
Maggie Smith as Minerva McGonagall
David Thewlis as Remus Lupin
Julie Walters as Molly Weasley
Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley

Plot:

After seven earlier films reaching back a decade, the Harry Potter saga comes to a solid and satisfying conclusion in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2." The finale conjures up enough awe and solemnity to serve as an appropriate finale and a dramatic contrast to the lighthearted (relative) innocence of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" all those magical years ago.
Harry, Hermione and Ron are grown up now, and Harry has even grown the facial stubble required of all epic  heroes. The time has come for him to face Lord Voldemort  in their final showdown, and their conflict is staged in a series of special effects sequences containing  power and conviction. I am still not sure what the bolts discharged by magic wands actually consist of, but never mind.
They look wicked and lethal.  This final film is a reunion of sorts for a great many characters we've come to know over the years. So many distinguished British actors have played roles in the Potter films that make a recurrence in this movie; Bellatrix Lestrange, Rubeus Hagrid, Professor Dumbledore, Ollivander, Lucius Malfoy, Sirius Black, Severus Snape, Remus Lupin and even Prof. Minerva McGonagall, who is called upon to summon her powers and shield Hogwarts School from the powers of Voldemort.

Summary:

Hogwarts is home. And Harry returns to Hogwarts to seek the last Horcrux that contains Voldemort’s fragment of soul and destroy it. Turns out, Voldy is planning to attack the school if Harry doesn’t surrender himself. So, our sweet sweet professor Mc Gonagall  and other teachers lay out a whole sequence of magical security to help Harry buy some time until his job is done. The Weasleys, Lupin, Tonks all help the others in this war. And it is thought that Snape is Voldemort’s puppet! *Huge Spoiler Alert* WE LOVE YOU SNAPE!!! *sob*. Everyone is in their full essence in this movie. Those little actors fighting over the “Wingardium Leviosa” spell in the first movie are finally together. Neville is a true hero. Voldemort  gives us all the more reason to crack jokes about noses. And Harry, well he’s the chosen one. You have to see this EPIC FINALE for yourself to believe. And when you see it, everytime all those moments  from  the last 7 movies flash before your eyes.

Review:

How can I review this perfect film from a perfect franchise with perfect actors? Hmm, only one word:
MAGNIFICENT!

I love every moment of this film like a true Potterhead. This movie is true to the last book, just how I imagined it. And those moments with our beloved characters dying *sigh*, so heart wrenching. Even when Hogwarts was being destroyed in that cruel war between the death eaters and the ‘Harry Potter Army’ my heart ached for that building. Each stone turned to rubble made me wanna jump. I think it’s time I pay a visit to Warner Bros Studio in London.  Someone please take me there!  These kids we saw growing up as we grew up ourselves, they’ll always be our friends! Always! Another word that Potterheads  will understand for sure. So take some popcorn, chocolates and a tissue box and watch it from start till end (I love the ending scene just the same way it was in the book) .
Dare not miss this opportunity to bid farewell to your decade-old hero Harry, with a tear and a smile.

This movie is the BEST FINALE EVERRR so my rating for this movie is:

*****
