Official Trailer: 2 States (2014)

Official Trailer: 2 States (2014)

The much awaited trailer of Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor's '2 States' based on Chetan Bhagat's best-selling novel is out for everyone to see.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, the film is about a Tamilian girl and a Punjabi boy who fall in love with each other. While their romance blossoms and the two decide to get married, the film is about wooing not just your partner but his/her parents as well. Playing on stereotypical mentalities of a Tamilian and Punjabi family, the trailer has some funny lines. Especially one towards the end where Arjun warns Alia about "punjabi mother-in-laws".

The poster of the film was released a few days back. Also, a press invite for the trailer launch that was termed as the couple's 'engagement ceremony' created waves too.

'2 States' will hit cinema screens on April 18, 2014 and also stars Rohit Roy and Amrita Singh.

Official Song : Palat : Tera Hero Idhar Hai (Main Tera Hero)

Official Song : Palat : Tera Hero Idhar Hai (Main Tera Hero)

After Main Tera Hero’s Besharmi Ki Height rocked the dance floor, another absolutely shameless but in a good way song is about to hit the charts. Varun Dhawan is yet again wearing a shirt without any buttons fastened but a vest hides his toned abs but we don’t hear any of the ladies complaining as he dances his ass off in true classic David Dhawan style directed song, Tera Hero Idhar Hai with an over confident ‘Palat’ which scares Ileana D’Cruz more than impress her.

He dances in the middle of a basketball court, on a wall and even while hanging from an artificial climbing rockface while Nargis Fahri is clearly smitten by Varun Dhawan’s antics.

Official "New" Trailer : Godzilla (2014)

Official "New" Trailer : Godzilla (2014)

I'm typically not into big budget blockbusters, but holy shit am I excited about Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' Godzilla, which is fast approaching. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters), the film is primed and ready to wash the bad taste of 1998's lackluster effort out of all of our mouths, and at long last give us the Godzilla flick that we deserve, and that we've been patiently waiting for.

A few months after the excitement began with a teaser trailer, and a mere 24 hours after we heard his roar, the full official trailer for Godzilla 2014 has arrived, and it's home to a whole lot of brand new footage that wasn't previously seen in the teaser. Though it still doesn't provide a full look at the titular beast, I can nevertheless promise you it's the most awesome thing you'll see all week.

If you weren't yet head over heels excited about the movie, prepare for that to change.

Check out the epic trailer, and look for Godzilla in theaters on May 16th!

Directed By : Sofia Coppola

Plot:

Released in 2013, The Bling Ring is the re-enactment of the most glamorous robberies of hollywood committed by a fashion-obsessed teenage group.
Movie starts where Marc Hall arrives at Indian Hills High School and befriends Rebecca Ahn. After hanging out with he gets to know about her that she is obsessed with fame and starstrucked by celeb-life.
While at a party at Rebecca's house, the pair check unlocked vehicles on the street, taking valuables such as cash and credit cards.
When Marc mentions that one of his wealthy acquaintances is out of town, Rebecca suggests they go to his house. Marc is very uncomfortable trespassing. Rebecca steals a handbag, mentioning that her idol, Lindsay Lohan, has the same one. She also steals cash and the keys to a Porsche, which the pair use to flee the scene. With the cash, the two go on a shopping spree, affording themselves the luxury lifestyle they admire in magazines.
Marc visits a nightclub with Rebecca and her friends Nicki. (Emma Watson), her adopted sister Sam (Taissa Farmiga), and Chloe (Claire Julien), where they rub shoulders with celebrities such as Kirsten Dunst and Paris Hilton While researching Hilton on the Internet, Marc and Rebecca realize that she will be out of town. The pair go to her house, and finding the key under the doormat, they go through Hilton's belongings, taking some jewelry. Rebecca then flaunts a stolen bracelet to Nicki, Sam, and Chloe at a party.
Nikki sharing the same obsession as Rebecca gets along with them and the others join the group too. They all go back to Paris’s house and get their hands on to whatever the like.

One celeb after another this routine grows on to them and they form the infamous ‘Bling Ring’.
They go on robbing celeb wardrobes when a news report releases captured CCTV footage from the robbery at Audrina Patridge's home. This concerns Marc, but Rebecca is undeterred and instigates a burglary at the home of Rachel Bilson. Word spreads amongst the group's social circles, and the girls proudly boast of their accomplishments at parties, also posting photographs of the stolen items on social media sites. The group ultimately robs the home of Lohan, Rebecca's celebrity idol. Shortly after, Rebecca moves to Las Vegas with her father due to troubles at home, leaving some of her stolen items with Marc, who inadvertently helps Rebecca transfer stolen items across state lines.
News reports of the Hollywood Hills burglaries intensify, with the media labeling the group "The Bling Ring". CCTV from several robberies in addition to the evidence on social media allows authorities to identify the group. Police arrest Marc, Nicki, Chloe, Rebecca, Rob, and Ricky, however Sam is not identified in the footage and avoids arrest. Marc cooperates with the police, informing them on the details of the burglaries, much to the chagrin of Rebecca, who has been identified as the ringleader. A Vanity Fair journalist interviews Marc, who is remorseful, and Nicki, who vehemently suggests the others were at fault, and that she was simply involved with the wrong people. The group is ultimately prosecuted, receiving varying amounts of jail time and is ordered to collectively pay millions of dollars in restitution for the stolen items.

The group serves its jail time, and Marc and Rebecca each go into seclusion from the press. A few months later, Nicki is on a talk show talking about her time in jail, and reveals that her cell was next to Lohan's. After digressing, she turns to the audience (and the viewers) as she finds a way to enhance her newfound notoriety, telling them to visit her now-popular website detailing her life after The Bling Ring.

Review:

The Bling Ring is particularly prepared to make fashion and celeb lovers go loose their mind totally as they flash the awesome wardrobes of celebs. But it becomes a fact that the movie succeeds in what wasn’t its first priority. The whole thing was a re-enactment to the most amazingly done robbery by a bunch of teenagers, the point is much deeper than that.
"It tells how far sickly obsessed teenagers can go,
But in summation the movie is a worth-watch!"
I will Rate this Movie with

Official Song : I'm A Freak (Enrique Iglesias Ft Pitbull) With Lyrics

Official Song : I'm A Freak (Enrique Iglesias Ft Pitbull)
With Lyrics

Enrique Iglesias is ready to get the party started again with his new high-enegy track "I'm A Freak".

Produced by The Cataracs, the club-ready song serves as a new English single from the Spaniard's tenth studio album, due in stores in 2014.

Enrique recruits his rapper a Pitbull, once again, on "I'm A Freak".

These two have definitely created a tight musical bond and give us a hit songs.

In the new single, Enrique compares the crazy love for his lady friend to a drug and that he can't get enough from her. Lyrics are good too.

Lyrics :

Enrique Iglesias
Pitbull
Mr. Worldwide
Let's go

I tried to let it go
But I'm addicted to your chemicals
I got a piece, I want an overdose
I love the way she gets so physical
F*cks like an animal

Day N night, I just imagine how you put your love on me
Lights off, lights on
Ready for some action
Baby, come and give it to me

'Cause I'm a freak
The way you're poppin' and droppin'
All over me
No, I don't want you to stop it
Yeah, I'm a freak
Baby, I can't lie
When you move like that
I got a one track mark
'Cause I'm a freak
Yeah, I'm a freak
'Cause I'm a freak
Yeah, I'm a freak

Yeah, baby there you go
Stealing my heart just like a criminal
No turning back, this time is critical
You move your body like a miracle
Baby, here we go

Day N night, I just imagine how you put your love on me
Lights off, lights on
Ready for some action
Baby, come and give it to me

'Cause I'm a freak
The way you're poppin' and droppin'
All over me
No, I don't want you to stop it
Yeah, I'm a freak
Baby, I can't lie
When you move like that
I got a one track mark
'Cause I'm a freak
Yeah, I'm a freak
'Cause I'm a freak
Yeah, I'm a freak

[Pitbull]
Baby you pop and lock it
Drop it, I watch it for sure
Baby you rollin and rocking
Move it, I use it, let's go
You know I leak it and do the things that they make you explode
You don't believe me, mami, just let me go low
Because I'm a freak, that's a no
Now can I get big, big, big, baby back it up nice and slow
I just wanna skip, skip, skip, ride out and go
I came, I saw, I conquered, on to the next, let's go

'Cause I'm a freak
The way you're poppin' and droppin'
All over me
No, I don't want you to stop it
Yeah, I'm a freak
Baby, I can't lie
When you move like that
I got a one track mark
'Cause I'm a freak
Yeah, I'm a freak
'Cause I'm a freak
Yeah, I'm a freak

It's The Cataracs

From the hotel room to the DJ booth
On the bathroom seat, yes, I'm just a freak
An when the sun goes down, gotta let it out
Baby don't blame me, I'm just a freak

Official Alternate Ending Trailer : 22 Jump Street (2014)

Official Alternate Ending Trailer : 22 Jump Street (2014)

How lucky are we that after Chris Miller and Phil Lord‘s latest film, The Lego Movie, we only have to wait four months to see their next movie? That movie is 22 Jump Street and, once again, Miller and Lord have their backs to the wall with a sequel to a reboot.

We’ve already seen two versions of the first trailer, a Red Band and Green Band, and now a third version has been released. It’s the green band, with an “alternate ending” but it’s worth watching for the one huge laugh alone.

Ice Cube, Nick Offerman, Peter Stormare and Wyatt Russell star with Tatum and Hill in ’22 Jump Street,’ which also has some small parts for the returning Dave Franco and Rob Riggle. The film opens in theaters on June 13.

Official Full Song : Besharmi Ki Height (Main Tera Hero)

Official Full Song : Besharmi Ki Height
(Main Tera Hero) 2014

The first song Besharami ki height from Varun Dhawan, Illeana D’cruz and Nargis Fakhri starrer Main Tera Hero looks glitzy, glamorous and high on energy. Penned by Kumar and sung by Wajid of the popular music composer Sajid-Wajid jodi, this number is young, zestful and absolutely adrenaline-pumping.

While the Student Of The Year dude Varun Dhawan must be making papa David Dhawan happy with his killer bod and kick-ass dance moves. The Barfi! babe Illean D’dcuz is sexiness personified in this number.

We like Varun’s energy and enthusiasm as he shakes his booty on the dance floor. D’Cruz shows off her sexy kamariya as she joins the party to unleash her naughty..errr besharam side. Together the two look scorching hot and we are just waiting for Nargis Fakhri to add tadka with her bootylicious presence in the movie. Take a look at this party track and tell us if are you impressed with Varun and Illeana’s Besharami ki height!!!

Official Trailer : Game Of Thrones - Vengeance (TV Series)

Official Trailer : Game Of Thrones - Vengeance (TV Series)

With just a little over seven weeks until its fourth season debuts on Sky Atlantic, the countdown to the highly anticipated return of Game of Thrones continues.

Last night, US cable network HBO released a new trailer during an episode of True Detective, and as you might expect, it’s packed full of never seen before footage.

Just about everything we see in it leaves us with plenty to think about, while diehard fans of the popular novels continue to ponder what exactly will be included in the season which is based mostly on the second half of George R.R. Martin’s  A Storm of Swords.

“Vengeance” is the title of this new trailer, and it quickly becomes apparent that that will be a prevailing theme during season four.

Throughout the course of the series, we’ve seen young Arya Stark add more and more names to the list of those she wants dead, and included now are “The Red Woman” (Melisandre) and Tywin Lannister.

The Hound is clearly sceptical about her desire for revenge, and how their relationship plays out this season should prove to be very interesting indeed, as will seeing whether or not the youngster is able to cross any more names off that list.

Official Trailer : Joe (2014)

The first trailer has arrived online for Joe, in which Nicolas Cage plays a periodically violent man who strikes up a friendship with Tye Sheridan's abused teen.

A troubled ex-con, Cage's character is attempting to keep his head down and stay out of trouble, but he finds his resolve being tested to the limit by his young friend's brutish father.

However, if that sounds like the platform for Cage to go off on one of his eye-popping, mouth-foaming rampages, think again, as this looks to be one of his finest performances to date.

Song Preview: Baby Doll (Ragini MMS 2)

It Seems That Whenever Sunny Leone Appears In A Song, there is controversy around the corner. Last year, Sanjay Gupta’s film, Shootout At Wadala (SAW), got into trouble with the Censor Board for the lyrics of its item number, Laila Teri.

Ekta Kapoor, who, incidentally, co-produced SAW, is playing it safe this time. In Ekta’s upcoming film, Ragini MMS 2, a sultry number called Baby Doll was picturised on Sunny.

Official Trailer : The Purge: Anarchy (2014)

Official Trailer : The Purge: Anarchy (2014)

Oh hey, remember "The Purge"? It's that cheapie horror/thriller thing from last summer that opened at number one, and then disappeared from the top ten three weeks later. Remember how badly you wanted a sequel, featuring none of the original stars, but made by the same director? Good news, it's here.

Yup, Universal has cranked out "The Purge: Anarchy" roping in Frank Grillo and Michael K. Williams this time, with the first trailer dropping today—and it's not really a direct sequel, so much as a side-quel. "I thought they had a really great way to do a sequel because the first one took place in an upscale suburb with what happens to a family there when their security system doesn’t work. With this one, there’s none of the same characters, but it’s the same day of the year and it takes place in the city where there are no security systems and it’s just like a war zone where people are just trying to survive," Zach Gilford, who also features in the film, told Shock Til You Drop. "So I thought it was pretty interesting to take that concept and to look at it from a different angle.”

So get ready to experience the purge all over again on June 20th.

Official International Trailer: Under The Skin (2014)

Official International Trailer: Under The Skin (2014)

It's safe to say that "Under the Skin," the new movie starring Scarlett Johansson, doesn't look or sound like anything else set to debut in theaters this year. And the first full trailer for the sci-fi mindbender makes a very convincing argument of that.

"Under the Skin" is the story of an alien (Johansson) that disguises itself as a recently deceased human woman (also, Johansson) and then preys on the men of Scotland.

The plan works like this: The alien drives around the streets of Glasgow and convinces the men that someone who looks like Scarlett Johansson would actually be interested in sleeping with them. The alien then traps them in black goo because how could you possibly be that gullible?

"Under the Skin" comes from the warped mind of writer-director Jonathan Glazer, whose two previous films "Sexy Beast" and "Birth" have played with genre in unexpected and visually stunning ways. His adaptation of Michel Faber's novel seems to continue that trend.

When it premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and Venice Film Festival, "Under the Skin" won pretty unanimous raves from the critics there, who called Johansson's performance one of the best of her career.

The film made headlines a few months ago, when the story of how Glazer made the film got out to the public. It turns out that Johansson would drive up to real, unknowing men on the street to proposition them in her black wig and fake Scottish accent. Some of those men were eventually clued into what was actually happening and became a part of the movie.

"Under the Skin" opens in limited release on April 4, before expanding on April 11.

Official Trailer : The Enemy (2014)

Official Trailer : The Enemy (2014)

Jake Gyllenhaal pulls double duty in his latest film, Enemy. The Oscar-nominated actor reunites with Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve for this psychological thriller. In the film, Gyllenhaal is in a battle that takes him on a twisted journey that terrifies and intrigues him.

Enemy centers on a quiet college professor named Adam, who stumbles across his real-life double. While watching a film, Adam notices an actor who bears an eerie resemblance to him. The actor's name is Anthony Claire, and he looks like Adam in every way. Shocked by this discovery, Adam decides to learn more about his doppelgänger.

Once the men meet face-to-face, they engage in a complex and dangerous struggle. They slowly but surely become part of one another's lives. This changes their dynamic, causing a rift so strong that they can no longer coexist. Are they twins, cousins or just strangers who happen to look alike?

One of the most interesting parts of the trailer is a shot of one of the men's mother, played by Isabella Rossellini. She states, "You are my only son. I am your only mother."
If that's true, there has to be a reason why there are two doubles walking around.

Enemy will definitely force you to put on your thinking cap. The film is currently available on DirecTV and opens in theaters on March 17.

Movie Review: Hasee Toh Phasee

Movie Review: Hasee Toh Phasee

Synopsis:

This movie is about a boy Nikhil (Siddharth Malhotra) and Meeta(Parineeti Chopra ) who live in two completely different cities, in two completely different environments. Meeta is a slightly eccentric girl whose actions are totally unpredictable, she plays pranks, steals from her own father, runs away from her house, speaks Chinese, eats toothpaste and speaks in the terms of Physics and Chemistry. She is crazy but still completely adorable. Whereas Nikhil is a boy having second thoughts about his career. He is engaged to Meeta’s sister Karishma (Adah Sharma) who treats him like a personal assistant and breaks up with him on little things. But he doesn’t do breakups. Just like a common man he is afraid of change; Changing his career or relationship.

Summary:

This movie takes place over a decade where the childhood of both the main characters is shown followed by the time when Nikhil comes to Mumbai to attend a wedding and bumps into tomboy Meeta, who is running away from her house. He is intrigued by her personality but forgets everything when he lays his eyes on the gorgeous Karishma. Seven years later he is getting engaged to Karishma. He also has some money problems and gets warned by her fiancee to arrange for it or otherwise there won’t be anywedding. Enters Meeta with long hair and a weird expression on her face; she is Karishma’s sister who everyone hates because she ran away and never came back. Karishma asks Nikhil to hide Meeta in a guest house or something but he brings her home after knowing the truth of her family background. Then there are a lot of humorous and senti scenes. Meeta actually steals all thetoothpaste in the house, charges a car battery using a laptop charger. There are also some CID jokes to add to the plate.
After realizing how much supportive Nikhil is of her, she falls for him and bluntly asks him to marry her in a public bus. Meeta is a mixture of crazy and cute. Her unpredictable nature, blunt honesty and Sheldon Cooper gibberish makes Nikhil fall for her too. But there is a slight problem. The Chinese are after her, she wants to steal and run away again; also Nikhil is getting married to her sister in a day. Ooops!

Review:

This romantic comedy mirrors the quirks in human nature subtly and provides humour in everyday situations; in the family and amongst friends. Parineeti's relationship with her father(Manoj Joshi) strikes the right emotional chord.
The songs are pretty good and add zing to an otherwise simple narrative. Parineeti who has come to represent the power-house performer passes with flying colours. And, Sidharth, whose good-looks distract, shows a definitive growth in his second outing as an actor after Student of the Year.

If you're looking to rediscover the magic of goofy love around Valentines, give Hasee Toh Phasee a shot.
My rating for this delightful rom-com is:
****

Book Review: Where She Went by Gayle Forman

Book Review: Where She Went (If I Stay II)

by Gayle Forman

Plot Summary:

Adam’s Promise: If you stay, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll quit the band; go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I’ll do that too. .. And that would suck, but I’ll do it. I can lose you like that, if I don’t lose you today. I’ll let you go. If you stay.

It's been three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life. And three years he's spent wondering why. When their paths cross again in New York City, Adam and Mia are brought back together for one life-changing night. Adam finally has the opportunity to ask Mia the questions that have been haunting him. But will a few hours in this magical city be enough to lay their past to rest, for good - or can you really have a second chance at first love?

Fans of If I Stay who thought the story concluded after Mia’s choice will experience the post trauma that not only changed her life, but altered Adam’s happiness. In Where She Went, we face the aftermath of the recovery and begin to wonder whether Mia really survived the crash as it becomes evident that choosing to live is only half the battle. As a result Adam must face the pain of honoring a promise that was made to hold on to the one he loves.
This story takes place three years after the crash and Mia’s physical recovery. She’s a rising star at Juilliard and Adam is a celebrity of the rock band Shooting Star that finds himself at a crossroads. The story is told in Adam’s perspective and begins the night he makes a choice to revisit the muse of his success.

Review:

Where She Went is the much anticipated sequel to a much beloved story. But this time it's told through Adams eyes.
This is his story, his journey, his memories through flashbacks of the past with Mia, and without. We get to see the man that Adam as become, and what he wants to be. We see his devastation, watch his rising fame, and share an open-wound that is healed by music, but never fully closed.
But most importantly, we get to walk with Mia and Adam through the streets of New York and witness a love so beautiful and alive that it has once again touched me in a way that I will never ever forget.

Gayle Foreman has done it all over again! She gave her fans everything you could ever want in a sequel and more. Her words are filled with so much passion and compassion. I can safely say that I loved this one even more then the first.

"Ever hear the one about that dog that spent it's life chasing cars and finally caught one - and had no idea what to do with it?
I'm that dog."

This book was so amazing! Adam is amazing! And all I want to do is hug him!
Adam's story is filled with so much emotional and physical energy. It's raw and powerful and exposed and vulnerable. The things he says, the things he only admits to himself, is what really broke me. You can feel his destruction. Even the lyrics to his songs were both inspiring and haunting.
Mia is a character that has lived through the worse kind of hell, so I was surprised how far she's come and proud of the way she survived. What she admits to Adam shocked me, but like Adam, I finally got it.
I had a flood of emotions while reading this. I cringed, I cried. I smiled a goofy-ass-grin-to-grin smile all the way through.
Adam and Mia will always be one of my all time greats!

Hands down one of the best book that I've ever read. I adored this book. I loved this book. And I will always treasure these characters. I'm not going to spoil anything by telling you if they get there happily ever after, but I will say that this was worth it. I finally got the closure I desperate needed. Fans of If I Stay will not be disappointed, this is one journey your not going to want to miss out on.
Simply put. It's utterly Brilliant!!!

Quotes that moved me:

-‘I want to cut through the space that separates us, measured in feet – not miles, not continents, not years - and I want to touch her to make sure it’s really her... but I can’t touch her, it’s a privilege that’s been revoked. Against my will but still.’
-‘I battle with invisible waves and imaginary vortexes and demons that are all too real and of my own making, I actually feel something in my chest open, a feeling so intense, it’s like my heart’s about to burst. And I just let it. I just let it out.’
-‘I needed to hate someone and you’re the one I love the most, so it fell on you.’
-‘Then she lost the battle and started to cry…All my annoyance melted. “You dumb-ass,” I crooned, kissing her on the forehead. “You don’t share me. You own me.” ’
My rating for this epic sequel to a great book is:
****1/2

Book Review: If I Stay by Gayle Forman (2009)

Book Review : If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Synopsis:

Mia is eighteen and has the kind of family any of us would pray to be born to and the kind of boyfriend that can only exist in the fictitious world. Furthermore, she is a gifted musician and is about to be accepted into the prestigious Julliard. Mia has a choice, she can follow her love of music, go to Julliard and accomplish her cellist dreams, or she can stay with her family and the love of her life Adam  and follow her heart. Either way, she has something to gain and something to lose. Then, one fateful morning, Mia’s world is turned on its head and life as she knows it changes. Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...
The one thing that remains the same is the question that Mia has asked herself for the past few months, should I go or should I stay?
A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

Review:

After a disastrous car accident, Mia finds herself looking down at her own battered body, barely alive. This is one case where, immediately, you get a feel of who these people are, their realness, the love they have for each other. With only a few minutes of getting to know them before the accident, I already felt a connection with Mia and her whole family, turning an already emotional novel into a gutting one. Mia's loss and grief is tangible through Gayle's effortless writing style. It's a tragic tale of unimaginable life changing loss that will make you thankful for everything and everyone you have in life.
This novel is not a story, there is not even a plot per see; in short, it is a chronicle of Mia's life. While she's lost in this sort of limbo, we relive her life with her. She sends us through the ups and downs of her past years. Her relationship, fun family anecdotes, talents, dreams, everything she has ever had, and everyone she can still lose. Mostly, you can see how fast a life full of potential can be changed so drastically. You know that even if she does get through this, nothing will ever be the same. She will not be the same person that we're being introduced to. Through her stories and her time at the hospital, we also get to know other people in her life who love her so fully that you feel their pain for Mia's uncertain future. What got me the most emotional was not Mia's reminiscing, but the reactions to others towards her . There's an especially powerful scene with her grandfather that… ugh *clutches chest*. It shows exactly how talented Gayle is; to be able to render so much sympathy for characters you have only just met, in a book with a mere 200 pages at that, that is some outstanding writing. This is not just Mia's story , it includes everyone that has touched her life as well.

There are two kinds of books, those that you finish reading and leave you with fleeting memories of the attractive hero, the silly heroine, and the overall storyline, or perhaps all you noted was the glaring plot holes, inconsistencies, ridiculousness or flat characters. At any rate, it’s a book that you read, either like or dislike, but no sooner than you have turned the last page, it is out of sight and out of mind. Then there is the other kind of book that will touch your heart, or awaken a lingering memory or a potential fear that will haunt your mind so that even long after you’ve fallen asleep, your unconscious self is still wading through the details. Your dreams will be fitful and when you finally awaken, you will find yourself tangled up in sheets with puffy, swollen eyes from tears that you shed when you weren’t even aware enough to know you were crying.

"If I Stay is the latter. It will stay with you somewhere in your subconscious mind forever."

Book Review : Looking For Alaska (John Green)

Book Review : Looking For Alaska (John Green)

“First friend, First girl, Last Words”

Plot:

Looking for Alaska is another brilliant novel by known to the world author John Green.
It’s a High school tale of wallflower Miles Halter who took left his hometown Florida to attend Culver Creek Preparatory High School in Alabama. He has resourceful parents but he insists on joining this school to find a new path to life and possibilities.
Soon after arriving at Culver Creek, Miles meets his roommate, Chip "The Colonel" Martin. The Colonel soon provides Miles with his very own nickname: "Pudge," ironic as Miles is tall and slender. Miles is later introduced to the Colonel’s friend, Alaska Young. Alaska is described as an attractive yet emotionally unstable girl. Besides Alaska, the Colonel also introduces him to Takumi, a student of Japanese descent. Alaska tells Pudge about Simon Bolivar's last words, which were "Damn it. How will I ever get out of this labyrinth!" Miles asks her what the labyrinth is and she tells him that's the mystery. After they joke about Alaska having a boyfriend and Pudge being single they make a deal: if Miles figures out what the labyrinth is then Alaska will get him laid.

Culver Creek is divided in two groups of students:
1.Weekday Warriors: The Rich Ones
2.The Ordinary Ones: Including Alaska and Friends.

Pranks are played by both sides on eachother. Alaska the prank-master is ahead all with The Colonel by her side.
After being a victim of a ruthless prank by Weekday Warriors Pudge becomes part of the game. He instantly falls for Alaska but keeps it to himself because she already has a committed relationship. He finds her truly fascinating with her presence overpowers his own self. While studying the religions, Pudge tries to find out the answer to the Labyrinth but every time he can’t satisfy the need of that question.
As Lara Buterskaya, a Romanian girl, enters their group Pudge feels attracted towards her and with the positive feedback finds his first girl.
In continuation of all the high school drama story takes turn and a very sad Alaska gives away her life in a car accident right after making out with Pudge on night. This event shakes each and every student of Culver Creek but destroys Pudge and The Colonel.
They both blame themselves for letting drunk Alaska leave the campus and try to solve the mystery of her suicide.

They find out the only way it could have happened was if she tried to squeeze through the truck and a police cruiser or if she did it on purpose, committing suicide. This causes them to wonder if they really are to blame or not. If she did commit suicide, then the Colonel believes she was selfish in making them help her. The Colonel insists on questioning Jake, her boyfriend, but Pudge refuses to, still clinging to the hope that Alaska wanted to be with him. They argue, the Colonel saying Pudge only loved the 'fun' side of Alaska, not all of her. Afterward, they make up, with Pudge realizing it's true and the Colonel confessing he's just angry and looking for someone to blame. They've been ignoring Takumi and Lara for a long time and apologize to them too (though Lara and Pudge don't seem to get back together). As a way of celebrating Alaska's life they plan the last prank. On Speaker Day the junior and senior classes are supposed to choose someone—a lawyer or small politician—to come speak to them. All of the junior class—Weekday Warriors, Pudge's friends, and everyone else—help with the prank. They convince the Eagle to let a friend of Pudge's dad to come speak of how sex is perceived by adolescents. In reality they hire a male stripper. When the man starts to give his speech Takumi starts the music. The man shouts “This one's for Alaska Young!” and strips in front of everyone.
The whole school finds it hilarious, even the Eagle who doesn't punish them. Pudge finds Alaska's copy of The General in his Labyrinth with the labyrinth quote underlined. In the margin was written 'straight and fast'. Later they remember what date Alaska's mom had died and realize Alaska died the morning after. They figure one of two things happened. Alaska remembered the anniversary of her mother's death and came to the room sobbing that she had to go, referring to her mother's grave. But it was already after midnight, the next day. She was drunk and angry at herself. When she saw the truck and the police cruiser she was either drunk enough that she thought she could pass through or she was so angry with herself that she committed suicide, taking the 'straight and fast' way out. The last day of school Takumi confesses in a note that he was the last person to see Alaska alive, he let her go too. Pudge realizes that this doesn't matter, their letting her go doesn't matter as much anymore. He forgives Alaska for going and knows that she forgives him for letting her go. He'll always love her, present tense.

Thomas Edison's last words were 'It's very beautiful over there'. I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful.

Review:

What you must understand about me is that I’m a deeply unhappy person.

Looking for Alaska is all you ever expect from John Green. Intense mysteries of life in words of a teen. That is the beauty of this novel. A boy who’s addicted with the last words and goes to seek a Greater Perhaps and finds the love of his life instead.

“If people were Rain,
I was Drizzle and she was a Hurricane”

Alaska is a character one will remember for the rest of his life. Intelligence with deep Emotions. She carries a complex personality but a true heart.

Y'all smoke to enjoy it. I smoke to die.”

The story clings to mind with many of its special factors, an unusual plot and even more unusual characters.
This is a story about finding the ones that you love and then letting them go. It’s about that one person which comes into your life to unveil the World and the mysteries of Great Perhaps.

For she had embodied the Great Perhaps--she had proved to me that it was worth it to leave behind my minor life for grander maybes, and now she was gone and with her my faith in perhaps.

Overall this book is the one to read
&
I will rate this awesome John Green Treat With
